I’ve been arranging music for decades – both standards and my own compositions for my bands, workshops I ran, youth jazz bands I have directed and latterly for the 14 piece rehearsal band The Dragon Band in which I play each week over the Welsh borders a few miles from my home in Shropshire. The curiously named Dogpole is, in fact, a narrow street dating back to medieval times in the county town, Shrewsbury. Nearby is a pub, The Old Lion Tap, which for many years was a focus for jazz. This new initiative is a showcase for arrangements of my own jazz compositions arranged for octet – 3 saxophones, trumpet, trombone and rhythm section – score and parts. They can be viewed, purchased and downloaded.
I’ve tried to describe each piece as accurately and informatively as possible and, hopefully, you will find them clearly set out so the musicians can concentrate on playing. There is a FREE download available which is the score of a saxophone quartet “E’s Little Blues” which should give you an idea of what we are about. I hope it interests you. Any queries?
